We have benchmark assessments that are meant to be normed (AKA common assessments) so that we can judge our kids' progress. But we fight every day to be allowed some leeway in how we <I>get</I> to the standards -- as long as we cover them, any way we get there should be legitimate.<BR/><BR/>That bit aside, I understand your philosophy when it comes to student accountability (a phrase that gets a lot of play in our district, but never any payoff). We have the same going on in my...I feel your pain. We have the same going on in my district, but to add frosting to the cake, we also had to get into groups to do a chapter summary of the book the presenter READ to us all day!
